Diario de Mommyray, 05 feb. 08

Wow....Things have been crazy around here. I have been working 55 hour weeks. No time for anything. I work in a food processing plant so we work till we are done. How ironic is that? I am on a diet but I work with food. Thank goodness I have to look at all the stuff all day or I probably would be tempted. My Husband and I have been doing really well on phases one of the south beach. We've been on it now for almost a month. I know you are only supposed to stay on for 2 weeks but we have had such a great outcome with phase 1 that we thought we'd stay on for another month after the initial 2 weeks. I've lost 16 pounds so far and I am not sure what my husband has lost cause unfortunately he is a very big man and we can not find a household scale that will register his weight. However he did have to tighten his belt two knotches so I'd say about 20-25 pounds which is amazing. The only thing is I am getting sick of the same foods every day but I do try and switch it up.
Yesterday was the first time I went out to eat since being on this diet. I didn't cheat and was amazed at the will power that I had not to ask one of my friends for those fries she wasn't eating. I had a tossed salad and broasted chicken. I thought broasted meant a cross between broiled and roasted. when it came out it looked like it was fried. OMG! So I just took the skin off and ate the chicken. Good thing I don't like chicken skin anyway. Gave it to my other friend and let her feel guilty about it. LOL
Things at home are great. It seems my husband and I have a greater bond now that we have been successful in the diet. And I don't wanna sound forward but are having mor sex now than when we first stated having sex. You know what I mean? When you can't keep your hands off of each other and you can think about is getting so you can be with each other? Well sometimes I feel like a teenager again with all the "fun" we are having.
My daughter is on a mini diet also. She is 8 years old and weighs almost 150 pounds. I have had her to every doctor and nutritionist in my area. I've even taken her to an Endocrinologist to check and see if she has a thyroid problem. She's just a big girl girl who inherited he mothers fat jeans. However I don't neccesarily believe that getting fat is hereditary but thats just me. So she eats better foods that I can give her. The problem is she is so picky and how do you tell an 8 year old she can't have any of those cookies we bought when she is so used to having them. My life is a rollercoaster of weight. AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Personally, I think you are doing the right thing in riding Phase 1 out for a while if it's working for you. One carb will turn it into a version of Phase 2, so there not really much to worry about there. However, weight loss that is "too fast," has a tendency to put a strain on the heart so just use common sense. You are doing a positively great job!

You are doing great! Sometimes you have to go with your own feelings. Phase 2 is scarey for a lot of people. I think your doing fine! I sent you a message and hope you find some extra ideas on food choices. There is a lot yu can do with phase 1... you might try getting a South Beach cookbook.. I love mine

OI!! Congratz on all of your hard work!!! AWESOME!! As far as the picky eaters, who are height challenged, lol ;), I recommend not bringing "treats" into the house at all that aren't allowed. I have had to really modify our household food and it includes some sugar free cookies, everyone once in a while and not until veggies and fruits and dairy is consumed. It is not easy, but giving them every opportunity for good health is, as you know, so important at such early ages. Sign her up for some t-ball and soccer and other sports that she might be interested in and it'll help her have fun exercising like other kids and help build her self confidence too. I also push water in my kids, with bribery, if need be... "drink this, and then you can watch a movie or get down or .. ... " you know. And yesssssssss what is with the sex being better after even a about 10 lbs and feelin' all frisky?? lol Dunno, but hey, whatever works right??? ;) Keep up the great work!!!
