Doing well. My back is starting to cramp up a bit but it should be manageable with pain meds. The weather is nice - 80s today - so I will try to get out today. I am getting a lot of the ninth story for my sci-fi/fantasy short story book done. It will be quite long of a story, enough to perhaps complete the book. I will start typing them into the computer as soon as this story is done, which I hope is in the coming week or so. On Wednesday I see about a telephone answering job - and it will be during the daytime and it will get me off the dreaded night shift schedule. I am fortunate that I have been to lots of places, I am able to use Los Angeles as a place in stories for example, as I lived there for seven years almost. Calorie counting DOES work for EVERYONE - it is just a matter of getting low enough. I know that now. It is tougher I think when one is really heavy than when one is closer to their goal weight. I will hopefully get to the low to mid 190s and stay there permanently. I am a bit muscular, that is why I don't look overweight with my height and weight.
Calorie Intake for Sunday July 25, 2010: 2780.
Vocabulary word for Monday: alacrity -noun- a brisk and cheerful readiness. -------- Origin from Middle English.

Went for a short bike ride today, first time in many weeks - there were cobwebs on my bike from being on my balcony so long not moved! I am aiming for finishing up the short story book by the end of August TYPED in my computer, which is a big task to put it mildly. Then it's on to fixing the western so it too can be published material - and finishing up the other fiction book. My goal is to have them all done by the end of the year... I will try to comment on buddies' journals tonight - it may be late as I plan to write this evening...

Hi Glenn, thanks for stopping by my journal. I fully agree, calorie counting does help. It is the only way I have ever been able to lose weight long term. I have tried lots of different ones, eaten goofy ways and it all comes down to how much I put in my mouth. Glad to hear you got out on your bike. Leg OK? Sounds like you are SLOWLY getting to feel better. Takes longer as we age, right? I have been feeling twinges in my knee lately. Hope it is not coming back (the arthritis issue). That gel they injected should last a good while. I sure hope so anyway. Well, have a good "writing" evening and talk to ya later.

Calorie counting is a good way to go Glenn...As K8y puts it...it's lifestyle change and about *not dieting* to loss it and keep it off forever...Eat the foods our bodies require for maximum nutrition...in moderate amounts and one will need never *diet* again...I don't feel deprived at all on my 1200 - 1400 calorie a day plan...In fact, I just ate the sweetest orange and thought "this is waaaaaay better than cake"...! Mmmmmmsweet, juicy and oh soooo yummmy! You will find the right amount of calories for you...Bet it was nice to get out on your bike too...! have a good evening glen....Hugggs
