Some good news today, I'm going to be a great uncle again! For the fifth time and I'm only going to be 47 this year. No kids for me, my twin sister is having her fifth grandchild in November... I am moving to Arizona - Phoenix area. Maybe this autumn - late. I'm starting to save up now. Probably the northwest area, as it seems nice from what I've been asking people. Diet going well, those snack bars from Atkins are fair - taste OK, but are very expensive for the size. I think I'd rather spend the money on low carb pasta it is expensive too and more filling. I'm realizing how few people I'm going to miss when I move, wrote to one I will miss the other day, whom I see infrequently. My dad's brother has been ill since about November and isn't recovering well, has serious infections and mouth cancer - he lived with smokers his whole life - wife then next wife's kids... His son, my cousin got divorced, is out in L.A. in with the wrong crowd. I'm looking forward to Phoenix as the weather will be like Los Angeles but warmer and that is how I like it and it will help my aching joints. I'll use the Veteran's Hospital for health care. I'm so lucky I'm a veteran, it has helped me so much when I wouldn't have had health care otherwise, etc.

Northern Arizona gets snow and has more cold weather than the south. You may want to do some additional research on the climate so that you find the optimal area for your arthritis.

If I go it will be Phoenix but the suburbs like Glendale area, Sun City, Surprise, etc. Anywhere in the Valley of the Sun. I'm not moving up to Flagstaff or Kingman or anything. (I'm a pretty good geography student with all that book writing and when I was a little boy I studied maps for fun). I knew all the state largest cities and capital cities when I was like in fifth grade and all the nicknames of the states, population has changed so I can't say I definitively know every state's largest city and I've forgotten many nicknames probably as it isn't important and I don't catch Jeopardy too much anymore. Anyway, I'm still even thinking of Hawaii again as I can get tourist work helping basically do anything on the beach. Arizona may be tough to get part-time work even as this arthritis has been getting brutal lately... :)

I live in Tempe and love it here. Of course summers are tough. It's not that the heat is unbearable, but it seems like forever to finally cool down. I love the Valley November through April and try to go to Europe for 2 months in summer. We cannot afford the trip this summer though, so will see. Good choice, Glenn. I more like Mesa, Chandler, S Scottsdale area :))

Thanks for your input I may try those regions too to find a place. I was just getting very successful as a nurse and had a breakdown at age 32. So everything got set back, but things happen for a reason and no one has a perfect life. I learned things I think some people don't learn -if ever - or until they're on their deathbeds because of what I went through and it made me a more spiritual person. There's a Clint Black song "Wherever You Go There You Are", so I know I still have to deal with me and my own issues. The weight problem is under control finally and I'm making sure permanently - no excuses. However, if I go where the weather is beneficial for my health it will benefit me in ways unseen I'm sure. Your post was a message, I am in constant change on what to do there are so many things I can't discuss here. Believe me it isn't about any relationships or anything - that would be a good reason to leave as nothing has been going on here like since forever... :)
