Did a 400m 'sprint' during my swim workout today. That's about a quarter mile which is roughly the distance of most swim legs of a short triathlon. Did it in 6:20. Looking at the results of a lot of triathlons, that's not a particularly good time. Those times are in open water vs. a pool which is even more impressive. On top of that, some of the times for the best swimmers border on world class for that distance. Leads me to believe that most of these triathlons are coming up a bit short on the swim distance. I'll keep working at it though. Ideally I'd like to knock around 20-40 seconds off of that. I'll probably have to add some structure to my workouts to make that kind of progress. Should probably be doing that anyway.
