Here is one to make you giggle:
My daughter, Abby, who is 3, has been giving me a run for my money. So to speak. She is very independent, strong willed, and too smart for her own good. At times, which are more often than not, she stresses me out!!! Keep in mind, that I wouldn't change any of this for anything!!!
Today we took our adventure to Giant Eagle (local grocery chain) for Easter dinner stuff. She was very good in the store! Thank you GOD!!! Abby asked me if she could have a purple peep for a treat. Well, I should not have had, but I did. "Ok!" I said. I should have known this would come back to bite me later.
Well, sooner than later the sugar hit her. We are home in the drive way, and I'm putting the groceries in the house. Abby asked to sit in the truck and hold the steering wheel. "Fine" I said, "But you know you are ONLY allowed to touch the steering wheel and NOTHING else!! Right?" "Right" a little voice replies. After 42 questions from Abby of "can I touch this? Can I touch this? Can I touch this?" and my replies of, "NO, NO, NO!" she sits calmly holding onto the steering wheel. Well no sooner I turn my back she it reaching the break pedal with her feet. I said, "Abbigail, because you did not listen to Mommy, you must get out of the truck now please!" Well, I was ignored. I said it a little more firmly this time. So, Abby sits in the driver's seat very still and starts to take deep breaths. I said, "Abbigail! Get out of the truck now!" Abby screams back, "No! This is my Time-Out!" I took her by her little sticky hand and led her out of the truck and told her to go to her room. She stomped into the house, through the dining room, through the kitchen and too her room, mumbling the whole time. I was following her throught the house bringing more groceries in from the truck, when I heard......from my sweet sugar bean......."I WAS IN MY OWN TIME OUT YOU SILLY MONKEY HEAD!!!" Needless to say, I almost lost it. But for some reason couldn't stop laughing. Not in front of ther thoush!!! So, I just ingored her while she threw her fit in her room and put all the groceries away.
Putting groceries away with her in her room was nice. I didn't have her hanging on my legs the whole time. So now, I hear a little sweet voice coming from the hall way, "Mommy? Can I come tell you sorry?" I went to her and asked her, "What are you sorry for?" And do you know she told me the correct answer. She was sorry for "touching things I shouldn't have because they were not safe for me. And I called you a name." We hugged and kissed and the day went on after that.
But, what gets me, is the fact that she knows to listen and doesn't!!! I told my husband this story today, and he said, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." So, I guess when we visit my parents tonight, I have an apology make. For my terrible threes. LOL.
But for now, the little Sugar Bean in sleeping. AAAhhhhhh a moment to myself.................Ok, it's gone. Back to getting things done for Easter dinner. Cleaning and prep work. Having 20 people for dinner, and an egg hunt after. It should be fun. I hope!?
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!!!
Your Pal, Julie ;-)
