Frustrated with the fact that I haven't really lost any weight in a week and I've been eatting healthy and tracking and sweating it out at the gym, I fell off the wagon last night. I ate crap, bagel with butter, popcorn butter, corn muffin with butter-hmm I guess I was craving butter...

So I'm treking it to the gym and hopefully going to undo some of the damage I caused.

My friend suggested that I might have a lot of sodium in my diet that is causing water retention and that might be why I'm not dropping lbs.

Guessing by the butter binge and the fact that I do love to salt everything, I'm thinking she may be right.

I need to cut out the processed foods and stop salting up everything...although it does make it taste sooo much better...

Anyone with any suggestions...it would be greatly appreciated...

Hi just dropping by and saw your journal...my suggestion. Substitute butter with extra virgin olive oil mixed with some minced garlic. It has that "savory" almost salty type look but not the salt. The healthy fats are there so it should also help with get you satiated without further cravings. Just my two cents! Have a good one. =)

First google "why the scale lies" it gives insight in to many things that can cause water weight gain and daily fluctuations (sodium is a big culprit). Some things to think about. Are you getting enough lean protein, dairy, fruits and veggies? Sometimes it's about "what" we are eating as well as how much. Are you being honest with your caloric intake (all those bites, licks and tastes) add up. Are you drinking enough water to stay hydrated and flush out sodium? Consistency is really important in losing weight. Going off and on plan can lead to yo-yoing in the same few pounds. Watch out for processed foods. They have a lot of sodium. Keep changing things up till you find what works.
