Three years ago, on the 15th, Notre Dame burned. Broke my heart to see flames shooting from the roof. It truly is an amazing building. So much history. Napoleon crowned himself emperor, the American liberation of Paris in 1944 was celebrated there and Mary, queen of Scots, married her 1st husband there. On our last visit we stayed on the Ile de la Cite. The boys went to the top catwalk and strolled among the gargoyles. Not me. I have an issue with open heights. One of our favorite cafes and patisseries were a block from the cathedral. I doubt we'll get back to my second home. I'd love to take my granddaughter but it may not be in the cards.

Got freezing rain last night so the roads are a mess. I am hoping the ice/snow will burn off before I head into town. I'm meeting my college roommate for lunch. Tomorrow is the big day. Go to the doctor and, hopefully, this annoying cast will be gone. But that means I have to get on the scale. Oh, I hope the damage isn't too bad. No one's fault but mine if I gained.

It is one of the great cities. Spent my 20s there. As well as Avignon. A lovely southern city and home of the great schism of the Catholic church.
