I love my husband's cooking. Tofu stir fry with noodles. A big dinner, but I ate lightly the rest of the day.

I’ve always wanted to try to make tofu. What kind is best and how do I do it? Could you translate to me for your hubby ha ha.

We like the extra firm for stir fry. He just cuts it into cubes and tosses it through the wok with some soy sauce, garlic and ginger. This time he used some turmeric, and sometimes he uses five spice. I'm sure you can find some recipes online that make a lot more sense than I'm making 😉

Ok extra firm. Got it. Do I dry it off or any prep? I’m a amateur!! Seriously! I am. 😂😂

We usually just drain it. You can squeeze or press it to get more liquid out if you want, but you don't have to unless you're really wanting it more crisp. We like it fine without pressing it. Have you tried tofu before?

wifey -- the thing about tofu is that if you want it to crisp up a little bit and brown more, you do need to get more of the water out. I make an oven baked tofu sometimes, and I cut it up and press the pieces between paper towel -- between two cookie sheets with a cast iron Dutch oven on top. You can also buy a tofu press, but I don't have one. If you don't mind it softer and less briwned (we don't), you don't really need to do anything more than drain it and maybe gently give the block a squeeze over your sink before you cut it up. It does have a tendency to break up if you cook it in with your stir fry veggies directly, so we usually cook it separately and mix it together afterward. The nice thing about tofu is it has such a mild flavor that it'll take on the flavor of whatever it's with. Good luck! 😃

Writingwyo’s-I just use vanilla flavored oat milk, egg and cinnamon to marinade it in a few minutes, fry it up and drizzle with honey, maple syrup or sugar free syrup then top with berries most of the time. (I usually add more cinnamon while it is cooking.) You can use your choice of milk, no egg if you wish. There are vegan recipes too. I don’t really have a recipe.
