Our farmers market just opened up for the season. They hold it 2 blocks from my house up at the rodeo grounds. I fully plan to take advantage of the tomatoes that taste like tomatoes the next couple of months...and the snap beans that actually snap..and the sweet corn that's actually sweet!

Great! I get so spoiled that when it is over I can hardly stand buying produce at the store. The quality and price is just not the same! Having it so close is even better! Mine is about 2 miles away in a large church parking lot and is mostly Amish. They have everything! Most things are picked fresh that morning. It is every Saturday. I just love it!

Here in Virginia we treasure our Hanover tomatoes. I grew up on them. My Mom sliced tomatoes and served them on a bed of lettuce with a dab of Duke's mayonnaise on top and black pepper. They are so popular here that they are easy to find. Produce stands and even some grocery stores feature this locally grown tomato. We enjoy our local farmers markets
