Kitchen experiment of the morning: steel cut oats with miso, sesame oil and sesame seeds instead of fruit. Folks, we have a winner! 1st savory version of oatmeal I've tried that I actually like.

I prefer savory oat bran. Not into sweet oats. Sugar is sugar.

I've experimented with other savory oatmeals, but this is the first time I've found a combo I liked. Definitely going to repeat it. As for sugar... usually even when I go sweet, it's usually just sweet fruit. I know many people don't really differentiate between natural and added sugars, but I do. When you eat a fruit, you're getting a whole food matrix with fiber, nutrients, and phytochemicals. But then again, I'm not a low carber.
