That's funny, my weights been up and down too, 73.6kg this morning, then I had salty bacon and a few glasses of water and went up to 73.9kg, Just been for a run, and now I am down to 73.2. Odd...

It's not odd, the bacon being salty makes you retain water. When you exercised, you sweated it out. Go eat shedloads of bacon instead of other meat and you'll hold on to water more than you would with, say, beef or pork or chicken. I had to have that explained to me too :-)

And to make matters even more confusing.....our bodies take longer to digest pork...so it sticks around in our gut longer and literally makes us weight more until it is digested and travels on its way so to speak.

Oh good that clears that up then. With that in mind, is there any point in weighing yourself other than once first thing in the morning. Furthermore what is the point of telling us all about it?

I weigh myself once a week, first thing in the morning, and don't look at the scales again until my next weigh in.

I didn't know that about pork. Interesting. I weigh myself often as I'm using carbies to influence insulin and I want to be able to keep track of what's going on so I can adjust it and get it right. I'm still learning.

I weight myself every morning - after toilet and with no clothes - this has helped me understand and accept fluctuations. Unfortunately, I don't use my old user account as you would see from my graph, although you have ups and downs over the days...in the long run the line goes in a downward slope. I don't really know what useful information you will find if you weigh yourself all day, as there are too many factors involved with weights going up and down - if you drink 1 litre of water and weigh yourself immediately, you will weigh 1 kg heavier....but if you wait an hour....you won't....if you eat 1kg of meat...you will weigh 1kg heavier, but for longer than the water. But the effects of this "instant gain" will both be different to your weight loss over a period of time...and who knows how long that is as it depends on your digestion....just to complicated....best to keep it simple I think and look at your daily intake and compare it with your daily activity.

haha FFNM I do the same, I started only weighing once a week, now I do it every few days. But I don't panic about it. Is weight really a good indicator for your dieting through the day? so much water fluctuation occurs I'd have thought it was unreliable?

It is as there's so many other factors going on. I like to see what I can see though. More information is always useful.
