This week, food has been easy.

I can't always say that. Last week, keeping my calories under 2,000 was a challenge, and one that I was not always successful with. The week before was even worse! I'm not sure what caused the change in my eating but I'm happy it has happened, because I do care about my health, and do want to lose this extra person I'm carrying around!

Without really trying, I somehow have ended up with a "spike diet" with my calories each week. Undoubtedly, each week, I have one day where my calories are over my limit by more than just one or two, usually 300 or more. Perhaps that is what is making this a lifestyle change, and something I can continue to do for the rest of my life.

I've been chatting with my hubby about how to make our vacation still successful - diet-wise. We've decided that since our hotel room has a little kitchen with fridge, we need to go to a grocery store and buy some stuff to have in the hotel room. I know my nemesis will be breakfast and that without thinking, my breakfast can be 1,500 to 2,000 calories just going back to how I used to eat (NOT a wonder I was 340 pounds!). So some breakfast items such as cereal, and some healthy snacks would probably be a good idea to prevent the "hefty" or "man-sized" breakfasts (and who came up with "man-sized" anyways - probably a big guy who wanted a bigger amount of food, but I digress).

The other good thing is that we're vacationing with my sister and her hubby, and my sister just starting the second trimester of her pregnancy, so is craving weird foods. Luckily, her foods she is craving is grapes and watermelon, not chips and chocolate, so that's one less temptation to have around!

We also made sure that the hotel we're staying in has a decent pool (because I need to try out my new bathing suit) and a reasonable sized fitness room. I do intend on bringing some workout clothes and using them.

I think we're set up for success on this trip. I just hope that between the sight seeing and purposeful exercise, that I'll be able to maintain my weight on vacation. Because I do intend to eat cupcakes... hopefully just 1-2, but I have been wanting to try Cupcakes by Heather & Lori, after watching the show on W network, I just have to try some! And I know I'll eat some things I ordinarily would not, and that's okay.

I used to skip breakfast, or, what was worse, when I had early morning classes, to eat cafeteria breakfasts. Those were unbelievably fattening. Now, my breakfast is one egg, one slice of ultra-thin whole wheat bread (40 calories, but for some reason FS lists it at 51), one bit of fat-free spread, one banana, one glass of juice, and one small low-calorie yoghurt. That comes to less than 400 calories. Plus a huge mug of herbal tea that lasts me all morning. It fills me up and I don't crave anything else.

I have a HUGE weakness for breakfast type foods, yet on weekdays I generally stick with cottage cheese for breakfast. I made the HUGE mistake of watching a breakfast episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives last night. I'm lying in bed and Guy is feasting on eggs, potatos, pancakes, corned beef hash, etc. I wanted to jump through my tv and punch him...LOL. So where are you going for your vacation??

We're going to Vancouver & Whistler in BC, so it should be good! It started out as more of an economical vacation because it is within the country, and is quickly getting expensive because of the cat sitter and appointments the vet!

Other than the extra costs, the trip sounds lovely! I hope you all have an excellent time!

have a super time - who knows you might do enough walking to actually burn some extra calories!!! My husband and I went to san fransisco and ate breakfast and lunch every day from the grocery store - then had a nice dinner out with out guilt! We came back and we were both down 5 pounds :)

I really don't think I have it under control enough to snack just a little yet.. haha. I have to go cold turkey then slowly start back up with my sweets! Lunch was not very healthy. I did manage to only consume about 900 calories at a Mexican restaurant so I guess that's better than going hog wild elsewhere. It was those darn tortilla chips that did me in!
