I HAVE A FAT SECRET TO CONFESS I left the uk, to move to Texas (back in 2014), I piled on a lot of weight here. I got to 322lb and I told myself no more, I lost 140lb and I was actually starting to feel better about myself, my tum and bum still big, so I looked like a piece of string with a knot tied in it. I was doing amazing, then the binge eating kicked in, I had not done this in a long while, add 60lb back on in the last year, and here I am, struggling bad. all that weight gain is not all from bingeing, though I confess I have binged, a lot. I am worried I am gonna get back to the 322lb, I just can't go there, but these lies I tell myself are toxic, I fall for them everytime, I won't eat the whole pack of........ yeh right. I thought i'd introduce myself

It has never been harder than now, I only have to look the wrong way at a slice of cake, and I get slapped with 5lb gain (like a TAKE THAT FOR EVEN THINKIN' ABOUT IT hahaha)

Slow and steady. Make sure you log everything at the beginning not matter what it is. Be honest to yourself and your journal. On your side! Let's Go!

Do you know why you are eating the way you are? Is it hunger? Is it food obsession in the brain? Is it boredom? Are you logging/weighing your food? Start with the basics. Take measurements and pictures and log your food BEFORE you eat it. Sometimes this helps me make a better decision seeing how many calories are actually there. No fooling black and white.

Yearofhealth. bingeing has been my thing for years, since I was a kid, I go so long without doing it, and it just creeps up on me again, and before I know it, im doing it again, then stress makes it all worse. I know I probably need professional help, I mean, this goes deep, real deep, but my bank balance is protesting on that one, so I am going it alone, and seeing what support along the way.

Ditto what YOH said. When I was heavy I ate when I was bored, sad, or whatever! It took me getting a nutritionist to help me understand why I was overeating and what to do about it. You lost it before, you can do it again!!

Mrs Brit, i have been a binger since i was around 17 and homeless. Started with not knowing when i was going to eat again so if someone offered me food and I wasn’t hungry i would eat anyway. I was thin in those days but the beast in my brain had been wakened. Now i have food obsessive thoughts that are intrusive. I dont generally overeat because i am hungry but rather, because i like the taste of whatever im eating or it is something i have deprived myself of. I would really really suggest you start with the photos of yourself. Just for you. And measure yourself. Again just for you. Look at the pictures. Like truly look. Then gather a pic of when last you were excited about the way you were looking and add that to your album of this new journey. Try not to think of this as a failure but rather a new beginning. You can be at an entirely healthy weight in literally 12 months. Meaning by start of summer next year you will love the way you are looking. And you may get there faster. Set yourself large goals and small goals. For me it was the old healthy weight of 145 as my large goal when i was 227. But then i had smaller ones all along the way. Below 220, below 215 below 200 etc. walk a mile (new hip) walk 2 walk 3. Now im walking 8. Im not allowed to run or would just run 4 miles a day as would take less time. Every month take new pix and measurements so you see quantifiable progress. If you go a few days without a decrease bump up the exercise and reduce the calories a bit. Maybe dont have that coffee with creamer in it for example (my issue). I keep telling myself that nothing tastes as good as fit feels when i have the overwhelming urge to sabotage myself for the umpteenth time. You CAN do this. You know you can. When you are bingeing stop (drop and roll lol) and drink 8 oz of water and eat 1/2 an apple and see if that changes the direction your brain is going. Just trying to help. Go be amazing.

Yearofhealth, some pretty sound advice there. I was always told no when I was a kid with food, and over the past 5 years we have a few times literally not known where our next meal was coming from, something has always come through for us, but it has been too close to call a few times, and there could be something in that I shall take more pics, I have a load from a few months ago
