Years ago I learned in yoga to align with north. Currently I am aligned east, though. I don't know what to think now! I wonder what the basis is for the selection. Are they talking about the top of your head, or where your face actually points?

LOL! I always face North, cuz I like my butt to the south :)

Hey guys- the tops of your head is to never point north... I know it's extreme and dramatic, but there are some cultures who truly believe this. For instance, India and Buddhists believe the magnetic pull from North to South will alter your internal magnetic field terribly if you point the tip of your head North. Japanese will never point the tip to the North because it's the position the dead sleep in. It's interesting to read up on this stuff, maybe This is why some days I have it harder! Hahaha

Feng Shui is a little different- actually a lot different, based on kua which translates to a specific number based on birth year and gender.. I don't buy it as much as the Magnetic pull theory which could lead to blood loss circulation in your brain if your head tip faces north. Maybe it's an Asian and Indian old wives tale, but scientifically it seems to make sense!

What if you sleep in a head stand position? Do you then use the direction of the face to determine position. I make a joke but I do not know enough about any of this to criticize. I am a science person by nature, I am skeptical about this kind of stuff.

FrankFD very funny indeed! I think the headstand sleeping will definitely pull too much gravity to the brain and you'll end up with way more problems in the brain! I think it's supposed to be the general position the head tip faces - whether you sleep in a flat bed, elevated bed, or even a hammock! It's about the pull of gravity causing issues to the brain such as strokes, annurysyms, etc. I just wanted to see if facing East actually brought me better luck in dieting provided I was sleeping in my "desired" direction which gave me more energy and more money!! Lol

Anyhow, I also checked mine and my husband's feng shui kua numbers, and I'm supposed to take his number since I'm the wife (yes a bit sexist, I know!) but East is his direction... Also on nights I face East, I eat under calories! Currently my bed faces South... Looks like I'm going to be moving around some furniture soon!!

The direction I have my head, has all to do with my screwed up neck. I can't get superstitious about it. lol

Oh, the top of the head, I face north...top of my head points west

Then Debrafrederick you're OK!
Warren time to get out that compass Lol

Warren, it's really the direction the headboard faces- not your strange sleeping position haha!! I guess just make sure your headboard doesn't face north! There's really a whole science behind the magnetic pull of northern/Southern Hemisphere in relation to your heart and brain and blood circulation. My mama always said "never put the head facing north" funny, she never said "eat your vegetables" instead!!

Hmmm... There is so little room in my(soon-to-be-former) apartment that the only way I could fit the bed in is northeast-to-southwest. Looking forward to having a real choice about where to lay my head in my upcoming new home!

I don't know about all that metaphysical new age stuff, I DO know...side. I have to be a side sleeper (on my back my left foot hurt more) and when I was---larger---it had to be left side so I wouldn't get acid reflux all night.

You know Smarty, there may be an instinctive indicator of that, I recall one two bedroom apartment we lived in that only had space for my headboard on the north wall, we slept there one night and I was extremely uncomfortable and almost claustrophobic. The next day I swapped bedrooms and the one with the solid western wall and a window to the south, we slept much better there.

I agree with Deb. I've had ppl come to the hotel with the request of specific bed positioning.

Debrafrederick and Rguarino - see? It's all about our energy aligning like you guys stated! I've already asked my husband to help reposition the furniture! He was saying he didn't want to listen to my BS but when I mentioned East sleep gives better financial growth, suddenly he was on board with the plan Lol !
