Gained three lbs in 24 hrs. Expecting some day to day variation. I'm drinking more water and less diet soda so I am guessing some of that is water weight. I's only day 5 so I'm not discouraged.

Don't fret. There are a lot of reasons why the scale could be off. If you are following the diet properly, drinking enough water, getting in your caloric minimum, etc... then you will see those numbers drop.
