I am so blessed, and while I may not always feel fortunate, I know I am. I am thankful for all those who are strong enough to do what I can't. Those who dedicate themselves to burn victims or NIC units.

I didn't get on the scale for the last week, but am pretty sure I packed on a pound or two. I'll face the music tomorrow. Do I sound like Scarlet O'Hara?

My husband has had a problem with his D3 levels since he had his first bout of Covid. He's back on mega doses for 8 weeks. It's interesting as he spends quite a bit of time outside. I carry a lot of resentment towards Covid. I miss our New Years parties. We had lots of friends and family over for drinks, snacks, bon fires and fireworks. The grand kids will spend the night with us as our son is working. It's a big night for our bar. We might set off fireworks. Just depends.

I saw these at the store and decided to use them for Christmas dinner. We'll see what everyone thinks of them. I am as ready for Christmas as I can be. The prime is in the fridge and the haricot vert are waiting for their ends to be snipped.

Last year it was -30 with feet of snow. Yesterday I went into town without a jacket or sweater. It was 50 degrees. I love it, but worry about drought.

I was finally able to get in and get my nails done and my hair cut. While visiting with the hairdresser, I mentioned that I have been married 40 years. She said she had never met anyone who had been married that long. She almost seemed shocked. I told her it hasn't always been a bed of roses, but we aren't quitters. We have definitely had our ups and downs, but as the song says, he's still the one for me.

I am so far behind. We went to the cabin and cut Christmas trees. I hope the grand kids and I will get ours decorated this weekend. I spent most of yesterday wrapping gifts and finishing the last of cards. Maybe I am not in as bad shape as I thought. Oh I would like to do some baking, but I did get Chex mix made.

Went to the doctor for my yearly Medicare check up. I have been having bouts of light headedness and can "hear" the blood pounding in my head. I checked my blood pressure several times thinking my pressure was up. Actually it was pretty low. So the doctor took me off the BP medication. I am to track for 2 weeks and the doctor will talk with my nephrologist to see if I can stay off the medication.

We've had one good snow storm so far this season and nothing since except wind. Doesn't look like we will have a white Christmas. Which usually means February will be a beast.

My granddaughter and I went Black Friday shopping. I hadn't been Black Friday shopping in years. Things have definitely changed. There was merchandise just thrown on the floor and boxes blocking the aisles. My grand daughter found a few things she liked so we went to the dressing rooms. I have never seen anything like it. Our community sponsored several Afghan families a year ago and they were shopping and trying on clothes. They had every single dressing room and had "runners" bringing them clothes. Things really slowed while waiting for the husbands to come and give their approval. People finally just left. Their behavior cost that store hundreds, if not more, in revenue. I asked the clerk when we checked out and she said they were told not to say or do anything. What the hell! I have lived in many different European cities and always knew I was a guest and needed to adapt to the customs of that country. I admit some countries were easier to adapt to than others. While living in southern France, an Algerian man hit my legs with a bamboo stick while I was waiting for my boyfriend. I jumped up and punched that ass right in the face. Once at Gare du Nord in Paris, A group of middle eastern women surrounded my youngest son. They had him backed up against a pillar and were pulling on his backpack. Several of them squatted at his feet tugging at his Converse. He was 7 years old and they scared him. Should have just given the backpack to them. He was so upset he left the backpack on the bench while we were waiting for the metro. Cost him his game boy.

Weight hasn't changed.

Hubby and I took a little break last week. He's been wanting to soak in hot springs for a while so we found an off the grid cabin with natural hot springs. It was very nice to get away and relax. All the chaos of the world was making me uneasy. I no longer watch the news. It's just so depressing.

We have a new addition, or rather our son does. He got a rescue dog. A beautiful black and tan Doberman. I'm not sure why, but her previous owner docked her tail, but didn't crop her ears. She was pretty skittish at first, but has settled in nicely. The grand kids love her and she loves jogging and playing catch with them.

Hubs got a new treat for the big football game--our alma maters played for playoff positions. Unfortunately my school lost. And they had only lost one game for the season. But the snacks were delicious.
