Watched this show on Netflix about the "blue zones" which are places that scientists have found the community is living to well past the age of 100. They studied the habits, food, lifestyle of each community. It was found that they all ate whole foods, they all had a social community, they all had a faith/purpose for waking up, and they all did daily physical activity without the help of machine. Such as gardening by hand, custom of sitting on the floor (works core to get up), uphill terrain and they walked/biked everywhere instead of cars. Their food was unprocessed and made fresh. They took naps, and had gatherings and parties as a community, drank small amounts of wine. Most diets were 80% or more vegetable based. It was a great documentary because you can enjoy seeing how other cultures live, and take away wisdom from how they are living. It actually made me realize how unhealthy and unhappy I am, but not in a depressing way. An eye opening way. Making some small changes this week in my life. I want to take better care of myself. Not just for weight loss but because I'm pushing 50 and live alone.
