Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight gain. Starting a new exercise plan or changing the old one in any way (such as increasing workouts) can cause the muscles to retain extra water to help them heal. This can show as a temporary gain on the scale. So you can lose fat/inches but see the scale go up. It will work itself out in a week or two.
