Week 2:

Hot Stone Therapy class last weekend was great. I learned a whole new modality, I can't wait to offer it to my clients. The feeling of hot stones on tight muscles is simply incredible. I must say I was skeptical going there, but I definitely changed my mind! My quads and hamstrings were quite sore from the workouts last week, and felt totally relieved at the end of the practice.
As a therapist I also see the load of tension on my wrists decreasing when I use the stones, as the heat "works" for me to release the tight tissues. Now, I need 10 bodies to do my practicum and get my certification, anyone interested?

Becareful on the heat. It's better to do cold. Heat is mainly for injury's. "Applying cold is the typical treatment for swelling because cold causes swelling to contract. Heat, on the other hand expands tissue and will increase soreness. It also helps to apply cold shortly after an intense workout. This constricts blood vessels that have opened to handle increased blood flow during exercise. Clamping off these open vessels slows, or minimizes, swelling in the first place, so soreness doesn't set in as acutely the next day. Thanks for your input Turbo0450. As a massage therapist I have a good knowledge of injuries, inflammation, vasoconstriction/dilatation and application of cold or heat for treatments. I know what I'm doing!

I just love hot stone massage...that is when I can sit still long enough to really let myself enjoy it. I just love the addition of heat to a massage. Glad you are doing well Anne!
