Not only do I have a weekend opportunity coming up, but an opportunity to put my new mindful eating & living skills to work as I travel tomorrow, returning Sunday night. DH, younger DS & I are off early in the a.m…. 4:30 a.m. tomorrow to be exact to catch a 7 am flight to SLC, Utah! We meet friends that I love there tomorrow & another couple who I don't know as well joins us on Fri. DS & I stay until Sunday, and DH stays on for his annual guys ski trip (this is probably the 8th or 9th year!) until the following Sat. Yesterday's tension got me thinking about the trip & I'm very excited to go into this one with my 5P plan (Pausing & Plating, striving for Progress not Perfection, and turning to Prayer in times of stress, anxiety or fatigue), and my evolving now 4C plan (being Curious, seeking Calm & striving to be in Charge, not trying to Control). With all these letters working with me, how can I go wrong?!?
Yes, I'm going in with a new attitude for as fortunate as I am to be able to travel, traveling over the last couple years since my eating issues have re-surfaced has been a struggle at times & challenging. But, I'm feeling really great going into this trip & prepared to live and eat mindfully while I'm away. I also love the recent quote that I read that as soon as I find myself eating mindlessly, I become mindful. I think in the past, I'd instead think that I'd blown it & give in to mindless eating for the rest of the day or trip or until the next Monday, etc. Well, that attitude's changed too & now I know that I can pause and return to more mindfulness at anytime, again striving fro progress not perfection… it's not all or only black & white.
I'm off to workout this morning, then will pack this afternoon & am excited to be going to Ash Wednesday mass at 5:30 pm with my older DS & his girlfriend. One addition to my big, new life has been to reconnect spiritually after straying/being less committed. DH goes to mass with me occasionally, but neither DS except Easter & Christmas. So, when my oldest asked what mass I was going to because he & his girlfriend wanted to join me, I was/am beyond thrilled! So, I'll gat to end my day as I begin it now, in prayer --
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
And I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way through this one day & each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm more grateful than you'll ever know for each of Enlightened & Empathetic you, my family & IRL friends, a wonderful trip coming up with my new attitude to truly enjoy it, having both boys together for one more day, mass tonight with my oldest & Utah with my youngest, all while having the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox (P.S. I'll check in when I can, but back "full-time" next week :)!)
