Does anyone know how to track walking as exercise, saving NUMBER OF STEPS rather than time spent exercising?

I use a fitbit zip which tracks number of steps everyday. You can download your numbers to their website and keep track of your daily progress.

I already bought a LifeSpan MyStride -- it will log steps online, but they want $50 a year for the privilege! I may have to stick with paper and pen!

I downloaded an app on my smart phone called MapMyWalk. It has a free version that records the time/distance using the GPS on the phone. I think it also records calories burned but I am only interested in how fast I walk, how far I walk, and total distance.

yikes, thank goodness the fitbit site was free. There may be other apps though, I use a running one too for the gps tracking that is free.
