Not gaining yet, but holding steady! I feel like me again. Blood tests came back negative for celiac. Still waiting on the IBD test results. Been on prescription strength omeprazole for two days. Not sure if it has anything to do with my improvements. Not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, lol. Just happy to be feeling good.

Digestive issues are tough especially when they have issues diagnosing them. Almost all of them are treatable, just the aggravation of the diagnostic process is enough to make you crazy. Good luck on the weight-gains!

@debrafrederick - Thank you. It is frustrating, indeed, but I think I finally got a doctor who is gonna get me to the finish line. My previous doc seemed obsessed with the idea that all of my issues were caused by anxiety and just prescribed anti-depressants that made my digestive problems a thousand times worse and sent me down to like 107 pounds. I ate a cheeseburger that broke the camels back and sent me to the ER and I vowed to never take an SSRI again, lol. My new doctor is actually trying to get to the root of the problem instead of taking the easy way out and saying it's all in my head.

What a difference the right doctor can make. Here's hoping you make a full recovery soon.

Dyer i want to share a story with you so bear with me. About 15 years ago i was having substantial mind blowing pain in my tailbone. Went to no less than 5 diff types of drs. Including a spinal surgeon at univ of wash, an internal medicine specialist who told me i was an extreme type A personality (true) and wanted to give me an anti anxiety med which i said NO i want to know what is causing this. The surgeon suggested cutting the coccyx off which comes with a whole set of issues regarding supporting the bottom. The fifth doc i saw was a sport med dr specializing in spine, knee and hip injuries. Within 10-15 minutes he diagnosed the ligament running laterally across the hip was pulled way too tight. Gave me a series of two cortisone shots over a few weeks and within a year i was healed. I like your fighting spirit dyer. Don’t give up. Push the docs. Get answers.

My husband has ulcerative colitis. He was super sick before his diagnosis. He also takes Omeprazole and Zemposia. He does well on those and feels much better! Hopefully you will get a diagnosis soon!

I have a friend with Crohn's disease, it took 3 years and all kinds of misery before the correct diagnosis, treatment and diet were established. She is doing much better now.

It's crazy how many doctors tell you that things are all in your head!!! Gonna share this even though it is TMI. When I turned 40 I started having god-awlful periods. lasting 8-9 days, crippling cramps that nothing would ease but a hot soak, gushing and flooding super-maxi pads when I coughed or sneezed. My gyno tells me it's age and I weighed 190 pounds so he says my age and weight were causing it. I also had severe diarrhea with every period. That went on for 8 years. One Dr after another told me, it's all in your head, your bowel issues have nothing to do with your Reproductive system. Fast forward to 2009, I was 47, hospitalized with a bowel perforation, only air was escaping so I spent a week in ICU while it closed up. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and put on a high fiber diet - 46 grams of fiber a day. They did not tell me HOW to get 46 grams of fiber a day, so I ate grains, lots of them. I gained 50 lbs in a year. Almost exactly one year to the day, I got another perforation and this time I was septic. The weight I had gained was all in my belly. I've gone over the stay in the hospital and surgery before in other posts, but what it boiled down to is, I did not have diverticulitis I had endometrioses and the uterine tissue was growing around my colon and had formed a brick 4 inches long and two inches thick that had to be chiseled out of me. Now I have a colostomy bag. That is the issue that is created when Dr's refuse to listen and find the root of a problem.

Scale reads 2.5 down! That’s is great BUT I am using a hotel slide scale. So not sure the accuracy of that. I do look and feel better. In my eyes. And that’s my friends is the more important than the scale!! Have a great day everyone!

What I’ve learned over the past 20 years in helping my mom and from time to time myself is that dr’s are like every other profession — really good, caring ones and others that just have 4.5 minutes to meet, greet, prescribe and move on and gave up. Ive found you must be forceful, persistent and vocal in both demanding care and answers. Also, dr’s are not gods. It really is a profession of knowledge and resources to research if not an obvious diagnosis.
