It could be just water. If it is you'll lose it quickly.

Don't worry. Your weight can fluctuate. Focus is on the project of cutting carbs and it should help.

Thank all of you for your comments and support. I do want to focus on the carbs. I recalculate my RDI with what I weigh now and it's 1000 calories less. That may be part of my problem; will try to stay under my new RDI.

I agree -- your RDI needs to be down around 1400 to lose. With that change and lowering carbs, I bet you are really going to move forward. But don't forget to give yourself credit for all you've accomplished so far.

Is there any way you can add protein in place of some of the carbs? I've found that protein helps to keep me feeling full longer. The carbs just keep you craving more carbs. You have an extensive history of weight loss, so you know yourself best. 💐

DMZur - I'm not instructing you so forgive me -- just making a suggestion. But based on my experience starting from the same weight and at the same basic age as you, an RDI of more than 1400-1500 calories per day will not promote long-term weight loss, especially with high carbs. DMZur -- you are going a great job. Hang in there. This is trial and error for everyone.

Your doing great. What time of day do you weigh in? I know I only weigh first thing in the morning. If I get on the scale it can easily be 3++++ pounds heavier than in morning.

I weigh-in at TOPS at about 4:45 p.m. on Monday. I don't think my home scale is accurate, because it fluctuated from 216.5 and 217lbs the morning of my TOPS weigh-in. To answer the question could I raise my protein. Some days I only eat vegetables those days yes. On days where I eat meat (3 to 5oz.) and other proteins not sure. Check my snacks; can cut a lot of carbs there. Not only a chocoholic, but a chipaholic (Obviously my coined word) LOL! Know it's not fun, but it is what it is!

Our TOPS leader printed a sheet from Mayo Clinic which was used as a report "Follow the Healthy Weight Pyramid" at this Monday's meeting. On there is a chart that shows women 250lbs or less calorie goal should average 1200 calories for a healthy weight loss. It also recommends limiting sweets to 75 calories a day (blow over 150 every day).

Do you know how many grams of protein you need a day? You are very low on that. You can Google how much protein is recommended, it's pretty consistent no matter who you ask. The carbs are your biggest problem. Ice cream, cookies, you know. McDonald's. I'd hate for you to lower your calories if you don't need to. I'm not sure how tall you are. Protein and good fat will help curb hunger as well and help keep blood sugar from spiking. I will often decide my protein, and work my meal around it. Fish, chicken, beef. Then I add a veggie and a maybe some fruit, and maybe half a yam,. Are you familiar with the glycemic index? Keep up the good work!

I have trouble not eating chips. I don't keep them in the house, and instead I am eating baby cut carrots, grape tomatoes, and now I am making zucchini chips. They're a pain and take hours in the oven at low temp, but they are quite delicious. Save your carbs for low glycemic fruits and veggies, especially this time of year, you can get a really sweet cantaloupe or honeydew and eat that instead of other carby snacks. Believe it or not, after sticking to this for a year, when I have a craving for sweets, I nearly always want a peach or melon or berries. Replace an ice cream bar with a bowl of fruit w/yogurt. Replace the chips w/carrots or grape tomatoes -- when you do this enough, your carbs and calories automatically drop.
