Well, that didn't take long. I'm stuck. I've weighed between 223.6 and 225.4 for over twp weeks, mostly hanging out at 225. I've reduced my carbs tremendously and have kept my calorie count around 1000 most days. I've added walking and climbing up and down 4-6 flights of steps every day (this is way up from standing on the bottom step and hoping I didn't pass out at the mid-point landing of the first flight). I know that the weight loss will come and that the first 7-8 lbs were mostly just water weight anyway, but it's a little discouraging. I've been dieting for 5 weeks and I've managed 8lbs. That feels so minor.

Try hitting 1200 calories to make sure you are not going into starvation mode.

I took a look at your daily food log. You really should be dropping weight. Have you had your thyroid checked? Sometimes our metabolisms need a boost, by eating smaller portions and adding boosters throughout the day: Green tea, spinach, Greek yogurt, chili peppers, avocado, ginger. Make sure you are getting enough zinc and iron. Water is a big part of it too, drink tons of water.

give your body a break. You may be stressing it too much so it is holding on. When I have been real stringent, I find if I give it a rest for 1 day (diet wise), I'll break the plateau.

great job on the exercise! I have to make sure that I have enough fuel in the tank to match my activity. Running lean put my body into a survival mode and it stores everything as fat. there is also a point where I drop fat and added muscle - showed no change on the scale. I watch my measurements. good luck on your journey.

Hang in there. It can be very discouraging but you will see results if you keep at it. The previous points by Dhatura, Peasy3 and Swillary are good. Have you thought about adding some small weight lifting to your routine?

First thing I do when I hit a stall is I get out my measuring cups and spoons. I have a food scale and I weigh out or measure out all of my food. I am so obsessed that if I go to a restaurant, I only eat half the food and take the rest home and measure it before I finish it so that I can log what I ate. Good luck!

I don’t think you are eating enough! Are you using the suggested macros off of this app or from elsewhere?

I'd stick with no less than 1200 and at the weight you are now I'd say 1500 is a low as you want to go for steady fat loss. 8 lbs is great. Are you doing any resistance training? You could be gaining muscle. Also, unless you're skin and bones, you are NOT in starvation mode. It's a myth.

You are not eating enough and putting your body into starvation mode,or shock, so your body is rebelling by not letting go of the weight..For your weight 1800-2000 at least and then gradually taper down to 1400 over a months time. You should see a increase on weight loss..Good Luck, we are here for you !!!

I agree that you’re not eating enough. Up your calories with healthy foods and you should start losing again. Good luck!

You're not losing...intake more energy. Makes so much sense...That's not how this works, the only reason I advised to eat more is that when you stall, you can then lower calories again. There is no starvation mode but there are metabolic adaptations. We're talking up to 15% reduction in metabolism, you won't reach a point where 1000 calories would make you stall, ever. Also, you should eat as much as you can get away with to sustain energy levels, reduce cortisol, and to get more nutrients.

There's a raging fire in my basement, quick throw some gasoline down there to put it out.

Thanks all for the encouragement. That's what I love about this site! Okay, so I gotta eat more... you can imagine I haven't heard that very often in my life. My problem is, due to other issues (many), I can't eat any raw veggies, can't process leafy greens, and gag on bananas and other soft fruits. The biggest hurdle for me is that I stop eating when I run out of carbs for the day. I have a serious carb habit and I have got to find alternatives. I've been looking at Keto recipes for the low carb benefits so I CAN eat more.

Oh, and I'm using macro numbers given to me by the nutritionist at the Drs. office. What she gave me was ~1500 calories, 100 net carbs max, aim for 40g fiber each day, manage protein and fat to be 60% of my total intake. I'm pretty close to that most of time without going over, but I usually do land somewhere below that... sometime too far below that, apparently.

Have you had your thyroid checked? You can do a home check by doing a temp check in the morning and night for 10 straight days. If the reading is under 97.8 you may have a hypothyroid issue. If you have a test performed ask for both T-3 and T-4 levels to be measured. If you think Keto is something to pursue AND you have hypothyroid issues you may want to consult with a registered dietician to see if increasing a fat MACRO to 65-70% makes sense. For now, yes, increase calories, reach for complex carbs to help with digestion(slowing), improve micronutrient intake and monitor your calories for trends. Best of luck.
