I was sick for 3.5 months and had to eat lots of fat with meds. I felt like a sausage when it was over. The good news is, once I got back into eating right and working out, the weight steadily came off. And, I went beyond a plateau that I could not break for years! I hope that is encouraging news for you. I will caution you though...I tried to get back to running and walking too quickly and hurt my something (hip flexer or lower back). So, take it slow.
