I haven't weighed in yet, but I have to comment on an observation I made. I was going along really well during the week, then come Wednesday, and I get on the scale and it was almost 2.5 lbs up. Okay, deep down I freaked out. But I calmed down. I know I am not eating the wrong thing.

But get this. The next day it went back down and I dropped another pound.

I have peeked a little for the rest of the week and all is good.

People, don't freak out necessarily if you have an uptick on the weight. If you are doing what you are supposed to do, it will come off.

Our bodies are a little like the stock market- upticks, downticks and no gain or loss.

Also: I read this in one of my health magazines. Sleep deprivation is cumulative... every day that you do not get enough rest, this deprivation grows. And sleep deprivation is also a cause of slowing down weight loss. Just something to think about.

Water and sleep.

As part of this process, I have been reading Discover Magazine, Experience Life and a few other magazines.. Dr. Atkins is finally getting his due. There is a wide group of MDs now saying what he is saying. I will post a link and excerpts from the article later. But basically, in my layperson's understanding is researchers are finding that it is not the fat (i.e butter) that causes heart disease, but they are saying it is these refined carbs--and all that stuff like sugar and empty carbs.

Eating a colorful array of vegetables, stuff high in fiber, and keeping your food on this low glycemic scale, the butter will not kill you. Wow, Dr Atkins had been saying that all along. Doctors are saying now that there is good stuff there also.

So far on this diet, I have not pressured myself to exercise. I do exercise when I can. I do not really obsess about portions or microobserve what I am eating. However, I pretty much eliminated the empty carbs, refined sugar, and absolutely no junk food.

It works, not painful and something that I can see will be a lifestyle for me. Forever.

I have started an "Exercise Bucket List"--These are the activities I would love to do when I have the money to do it and some more time.

1. Horse back riding
2. Ice skating lessons (figure skating)
3. samba or hip-hop or some sort of dancing lesson
4. a long range bicycle trip

Now, I MUST win the mega lotto, so I can quit my job and do all this stuff
