Day 4 of my keto diet. So far I'm having moderate success in choosing foods that keep my percentages in the right balance for keto, but eliminating sugar from coffee and soda is a stumbling block. I've reduced the amount of sugar in my coffee and today I will attempt to replace my soda with diet soda.

You can’t have any sugar on Keto. What do you mean by reduced the amount

You can look into trying some sugar substitues for you coffee if you like that sweet taste. There are many good ones out there. Know that there is also sugar in your coffee mate creamer (corn syrup I think). Many things to get used to but you are doing great.

I like the taste of Truvia in my coffee. It's sweet enough that I use a lot less. International Delight has some amazing sugar-free creamers too. I like the hazelnut one.

@rosio19 - I've only just started this diet and have been used to having sugar in my coffee and drinking regular soda. So eliminating the sugar all at once was not something I could do. @liv001 - Thank you. :) I didn't realize how much was in my creamer until now. lol @newnormal - I will have to give those a try! Thanks so much :)

The best one for keto is Laksanto Monkfruit. It does not spike your blood sugar or generate insulin, it is a 1:1 match with sugar, great for baking, and has no aftertaste. You have to be careful with stevia becuz it is often blended with undesirables. Truvia is made from corn which is a no-no, it also has trace insecticides (yowza!) in it. As far as soda, my BF now loves Coke Zero, not the best sweetener-wise, but none of them are! Hope it helps!

There are two good keto support groups on facebook...Kinda Keto and Women on Keto you may like. I don't recommend Keto for Beginners bc they are like the Keto Gestapo. You really need to get off the sugar right away bc that will stop you from entering Ketosis, which is a metabolic state.

True sugar will throw you out of Ketosis, but I still use a little sugar in my morning coffee and hit Ketosis everyday. It's a lot less than I used to use and I add Stevia extract to bump the sweetness. Just don't do it all day. I'm planning on trying out Monkfruit when I get my next Amazon order and Xylitol isn't bad in coffee. As far as diet sodas I'd just try to drink seltzer with a little lime or lemon juice squeezed in. That's what I do and have never missed the sodas (but to be honest I stopped all soft drinks back in 2000).
